Acne Prevention for Children

Written by: Jordan Wright

Child Acne Prevention
As acne is aggravating and frustrating for adults and teenagers, children can experience acne as well. This can be especially frustrating because it's not expected the way it is with teenagers. If a child has acne and none of his or her peers are experiencing the same thing, it can be very difficult for that child to deal with. Luckily, there are some child acne prevention methods that can help keep your child's skin clear and healthy. Here are some of those methods you can utilize.

Eating a Healthy Diet
Ensuring that your child is getting a great amount of vegetables and fruits will help with child acne prevention. Often times, breakouts can occur when a child is not receiving a balanced amount of vitamins and minerals. The antioxidants in vegetables and fruits are a great help for clear, beautiful and healthy skin. In fact, these benefits come along with a slew of other benefits of eating fruits and vegetables. Experts suggest eating 5 different colored fruits and vegetables a day in order to receive the recommended amount of vitamins and minerals. Making sure that your child is receiving these things will help a lot with child acne prevention.

Cleansing
Often times, children do not worry as much about cleansing their skin as adults do. Usually, they quickly wash with soap and this is what their skin care regimen consists of. When the skin isn't clean or properly cleaned, this can result in breakouts of child acne. Providing your child with the proper skin care products can help a great deal with child acne prevention. Make sure that they have a gentle skin cleanser that will not irritate their sensitive skin. Look for products that are alcohol and oil free. Also, providing them with an exfoliation product is great as it will remove the dead skin and dirt from their pores. This allows the new, healthy skin to show through.

No Touching
If your child is experiencing acne on his or her face, one of the main causes could come from his or her own hands. The dirt and oil that is on your child's hands transfers to his or her face when they touch their face. This can clog up the pores and cause acne breakouts. To prevent these breakouts, make sure your child knows not to touch his or her face. This will keep the oil from transferring to the face. Before touching your face for any reason, thoroughly wash your hands.

It is difficult for a child to experience acne, especially if no one else their age is experiencing it yet. They may feel embarrassed, ashamed and upset. You can help them feel better by teaching them the tricks and tips for child acne prevention above. Keeping them informed on what causes acne as well as how to get rid of it will help make them more proactive about skin care. This will result in less acne and a happier child, and that will result in a happier you!
